Cycling in Alsace is a unique experience because the region is nestled between the beautiful Vosges Mountains in France and the borders of Germany and Switzerland. Alsace is therefore a combination of cultures and charm. The famous Route du Vin (Wine Route) takes in at least 100 wine-producing villages between Strasbourg and Colmar that create some of the best French wines. A wine-tasting experience is a must! The area also offers gourmet cuisine and has more Michelin-star restaurants than any other region. Experience gastronomy in refined and traditional dishes like the famous baeckeofe. Away from the table, the beauty of this region's traditional architecture will surprise you with village after village of pretty half-timbered houses decked with brilliantly coloured flowers. The price of this self-guided ride includes 6 nights' accommodation in superior hotels, plus breakfasts. Hybrid bike hire is included (plus an option to upgrade to electric bikes or road bikes), as well as a detailed road book, a meeting with a local guide, access to a 24/7 helpline and a Discover France water bottle..

This self-guided cycling tour starts in France's wine capital, Bordeaux, easily reached by TGV train from Paris or flight from overseas, before heading into the vineyards, including the famous terraces of Saint-Emilion, and continuing on to the pretty city of Bergerac. Then cycle back in time as you venture further into the prehistoric region of the Dordogne, including visits to Les Eyzies and Sarlat. The price includes 7 nights' accommodation in superior hotels, breakfasts, 8 dinners, transfers, bike hire, an in-person briefing with a local guide, a detailed road book that includes maps, tourist information, and a step-by-step itinerary and cue sheets. Technical and emergency support, plus a concierge service, is available if needed.
