Set in the national park of the Perigord-Limousin, this campsite sits in the grounds of a chateau and lake. Some key renovations have taken place in 2015 to improve the facilities, including changes to pitches and to the terrace area used for eating and entertainment. A new chef has also been bought on board in the restaurant to give you a taste of local cuisine within the stone walls of the chateau (if you're late arriving you can take advantage of a special menu to fill you up on a fast but simple dinner). Water is a big part of experience here, and there are two lakes – one for fishing and one for swimming – plus three pools, complete with water slide. This is a good option if you're wanting to escape the main tourist trail that runs along the Loire river to the north. We just love the sound of this place. This green and lush campsite is situated on the border of the Ecrins, one of only 10 national parks in France. The site is at an altitude of 1450 metres, meaning that you can literally ride stunning mountain routes from the door. This is mountain camping as it’s meant to be. From your pitch you’ll be able to see the rocks of the Ecrins, as well as beautiful valleys and the glacier of Pelvoux. A three-star campsite, Camping Croque Loisirs is clean, with hot showers and a good friendly service (speaking French, English, Dutch and German). Most of the 50 pitches have access to electricity and there are several water taps. Every morning you can also buy fresh bread, a great way to start your day. Huttopia Wattwiller is a family friendly campsite within reach of both Mulhouse and Colmar. It's handy for the Alsace wine route and also near the Western Front Way World War One commemorative bike route. It's set in a woodland, offering a great base for exploring this part of the Alsace region.
