La Cabine Secrete is just a 2-minute bike ride from the fabulous Nantes Brest Canal cycle route on the Euro Velo 1 La Vélodyssée Atlantic Coast route, 20 minutes east of Carhaix Plougher (Judi, the owner, tells me she regularly waves to cyclists – below – as they pass). La Cabine Secrete is a perfect stopover for cyclists wanting a nature-based stay. In no particular order there's a bar, secure parking for bikes, and you can load up on breakfast for an extra €6.50. The hotel is situated about 30km from Saint-Malo, so it's a good stop en route to ferries, and about 60km from Mont Saint Michel.

One of the best places to stay if you're cycling the Nantes-Brest Canal, and recommended to us by readers. La Maison du Canal is a high-quality B&B with 5 rooms that can accommodate up to 16 people, making it ideal for families and small groups of riders. It provides easy access to Rostrenen and Carhaix. It's also close to some good off-road biking tracks. Set up and run for many years by John and Hilary, it's now in the safe hands of their daughter and son-in-law, Robert and Emma – both cyclists – who are on hand to share their local advice and love of the area. There is plenty of secure bike storage, plus basic workshop facilities. The hotel is on this 320km circular bike route from Roscoff and also on the Euro Velo 1 La Velodyssee route. Ideal for an overnight stay or a fixed base for local rides.
