A wonderful tour of a wonderful region in SW France
On this self-guided cycling tour of the Dordogne you'll cycle along quiet back roads and greenways to discover some of the most beautiful places in this stunning region of SW France. It starts in Sarlat-la-Canéda, a magnificent medieval town nestled between the Dordogne and Vézère rivers and home to some of the most beautiful villages in France. The tour includes a short jaunt into the Lot and a visit to Rocamadour, an amazing ancient town that appears to cling to a riverside cliff. The Gardens of Eyrignac will provide a charming detour before you head to the Vézère valley at Montignac, home to the Lascaux caves. Follow the river to Les Eyzies de Tayac, a prehistory mecca. Then it's on to Limeuil and its panoramic gardens, Cadouin and its remarkable abbey, then the Dordogne, which will take you to the picturesque villages and castles of Castelneau, Beynac, La Roque-Gageac and to the bastide town of Domme. Each evening, you’ll have the chance to dine in the restaurant of your choice or at the hotel, and sample the many gourmet specialities of this region. The price includes 7 nights' accommodation with breakfast, 2 evening meals, a road book with maps and directions, a GPS app for your smartphone, luggage transfers and 24/7 telephone assistance.
