Starting Avignon, bike through the vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape to Orange and its ancient theatre. Ride on further to Séguret, one of the most beautiful villages in France – your base for a day trip to the old city of Vaison-la-Romaine. From here, it's on to the foot of the Giant of Provence, Mont Ventoux, to ride around Bédoin and Mazan. This is an area of quiet country roads lined with olive trees and cypresses, and beautiful stone villages. From the shadow of the mighty Ventoux, it's on to the former capital of the region, Pernes-les-Fontaines, before arriving in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue to explore its canals and waterways. This is a slow-paced self-guided cycling holiday that gives you plenty of time to discover the authenticity of Provence and enjoy its food and wine. Maximum daily distance: 40km. Price includes bike hire, accommodation, and full route notes and maps.
