Team Saxo Bank owner Bjarne Riis will be in London for a public Q&A session on May 30 to promote his autobiography, Riis: Stages of Light and Dark (review to follow when I'm finished reading it). He will be at Sigma Sports, Hampton Wick, from 7pm.
Riis, now owner and manager of the Team Saxo Bank, won the 1996 Tour de France, only to later admit the ride (and most of his career) was undertaken with the help of EPO (amongst other things).
The book is a confession of sorts – it's a frank and personal account of his professional cycling life, and includes an outline of his thought processes as he considered whether or not to join in the systemic doping that was going on in the peloton in the 1990s.
Riis: Stages of Light and Dark – already a hit in Denmark and Germany – has been published in English by Vision Sports Publishing.
