A little report from stage 18 of the Tour de France in Bagnères-de-Bigorre.
Not wanting to inflict another five-hour mountainside wait on the kids after Wednesday's sterling effort, we spent yesterday in Bagnères-de-Bigorre, where the route conveniently went past the the door of Les Dix Arches, the B&B where we're staying, and where all the windows in town look like this.
Caroline and Andy here have had a house full of cyclists this week, coincidentally all Australians, meaning lots of flag variations.
They were joined by friends from around the valley, who did remarkable things with a big bit yellow table cloth.
A wave for the helicopter.
And here's some action.
Here's the pizzeria in town where we the kids and I had our post-Tour feast. We've eaten at Capitello two out of our three nights here. Get there early to nab the table near the window so you can watch the pizzas being made.
Two happy little people after pizza and pasta (and ice-cream).
Off home today. We're aiming to catch the time trial out of Bergerac on Saturday.
