I'm not normally one to brag but ... well, we've made No.14 on the list of the Top 50 Bicycle Touring Blogs.
Yep – No.14. You're reading it.
To say I'm chuffed is something of an understatement. You can see the full list here.
The list is compiled by Antonio Cala and Amanda Zeisset, aka The Adventure Junkies, who know a thing or two about riding a bike given they've been cycling, trekking and diving the world since 2013.
They rank bike sites by authority and search engine page rank using a combination of tracking data that, frankly, I don't understand the first thing about.
What I do know is that twice as many people used Freewheeling France this cycling season than last, with a couple of hundred thousand people using the site over the last 12 months to research their French cycling adventures.
Some people browse the site for inspiration, or accommodation, bike hire, or tours, while others email to ask questions (I try and post these on the blog as reader Q&As in case the answers can help others), while others get in touch via Facebook or Twitter.
It all gets a bit crazy around June and July, when I get inundated with Tour de France questions – where to watch it?, when will the roads close?, where can I stay? – in addition to the usual completely random queries about bike hire in Valence, or Poitiers or Calvi.
I don't always know the answers but, rest assured, one of you out there in the Freewheelng France community always steps forward with golden nuggets of information when I get stuck – ideas and memories from your own adventures, or local know-how based on your own French cycling communities. Always.
So No.14 isn't me, or Freewheeling France – it's you too.
