Followers of our Facebook page will know that I've been working on a redesign of Freewheeling France for some time. It's filled night-time hours, toddler naps and weekends, but it's finally finished. I hope you like the results, and find the site useful when it comes to researching and planning your next cycling adventure in France.
The new site contains everything that was on the old one, but it's now (hopefully) a bit easier to find, with an interactive map breaking content down per region. The ever-popular bike hire listings are still there, though I eventually hope to migrate them to the new searchable database I'm using for the new accommodation and tour listings (these re a work in progress and I'm trying to add more all the time). These two new sections mean that the site is now more rounded, and caters for cyclists holidaying independently in France, as well as those who need a little support along the way, be it a fully guided tour, or a self-guided option with luggage support.
The old site was starting to look a little dated, and it wasn't very mobile-friendly. The new one will (hopefully) be more useful to people who are already out and about in France, and using iPhones, iPads and other mobile devices to look up bike hire outlets, cycle routes or accommodation options.
Anyway, long story short: I hope you like it. Please send feedback either in the comments area below this blog or via Facebook or email – don't forget to let me know where all the mistakes are so I can fix them (there is no room for proofreaders in the spare room that doubles as my 'office'). Please also share the site with friends and fellow cyclists via Facebook, Twitter and old-fashioned word of mouth so that you can help me make it grow so that one day I'll need to upgrade it again (eek).
Bonne route,
Lyn.
