The Meuse Cycle Route – one of France's newest bike routes – has won EuroVelo 19 status.
One of France's newest bike routes has won approval to be included in the EuroVelo network.
The 1100km Meuse Cycle Route is an all-abilities ride that follows the Meuse River from its source in northern France to its mouth on the Dutch North Sea coast, passing through Belgium en route.
The route will be formally recognised as the official EuroVelo 19 route following a three-year period during which the application was assessed. The official recognition will provide kudos and see the route showcased on an international level.
The 11 stages of the complete route can comfortably be ridden at 30-50 kilometres per day and there are a number of train stations along the route to allow cyclists to explore it in smaller chunks or as one-way rides.
Bienvenue EuroVelo 19!
The route road book can be downloaded here for France.
