Hi Lyn,

I want to know where can I rent the bikes for a cycling holiday in the Loire – the cost, the castles you recommend to visit, etc.

Thankyou,
Oscar.

Hi Oscar,

Many thanks for your email.

We have an overview of cycling the river Loire. It includes some links to some recommended guidebooks and maps. We also have an article on cycling the Loire chateau bike route. The official Loire cycling website is a good source of route advice and has links to maps and support services.

If you want to cycle independently, you'll need to decide where you want to start and end your trip.

You could hire bikes in Tours, Angers or pretty much any other city/major town along the Loire. See our bike hire listings for more options.

Bike rental ranges from €15-€21 a day, depending on the bike type, and gets cheaper the longer you hire (€60-90) for a week. Panniers, trailers and other add-ons will usually cost extra.

For accommodation for cyclists in the Loire, search our listings. See also our article on accommodation options in France.

If you want a bit more support and decide on self-guided tours, see our our tour listings.

I hope that helps - do let me know how your trip goes, and if I can help further.

Happy cycling,
Lyn
