Here's how you can help Beth and her mum Katie make their worldwide adventure a reality.
I recently posted about Beth, a courageous little Australian girl embarking on a massive worldwide adventure.
Beth has a rare brittle bone condition, which can make life challenging – but that hasn't stopped her making the most of every day.
She plans to travel the world, taking in the top sites and experiences on the way (including cycling in France).
Read her full story here.
Since I posted that story, her mum has received lots of emails from friends of Freewheeling France across France (and elsewhere) – offers of free accommodation, meals, cash donations and wonderful words of encouragement. Thanks to EVERYONE who has been in touch so far.
I've also had a few emails from people out there asking more about the types of support they need – I thought it might be useful to post an example list here.
How you can help make her adventure possible
Beth and Katie are still planing their itinerary. At this stage they plan on arriving in London at the end of April 2015 and spend May and June in the UK and Ireland. After that, it will be France, Europe and the world. I'll post more specifics as they come to hand.
In the meantime these are the sorts of things they need by way of support and sponsorship in kind. Offers of support in many ways may influence their final itinerary as local support and donations in kind will help make the trip more achievable and more affordable.
Types of support they need
They are asking for the following help from individuals and companies.
Offers of accommodation all over the world. They will visit the 'big' destinations, and be driving between them within Europe and the Americas. Accommodation does need to be accessible as Beth cannot walk and will be using a wheelchair when she's not in her bike trailer – see below!
Car hire (or an affordable, reliable car/van to buy) for Europe. It's just not practical for Beth to rely on public transport with her bone condition. They will need a car or van for the UK and Europe.
A bike and trailer for use worldwide. They will be driving and would ideally like to take a bike and trailer with them so Beth can get out and about in each place (especially the countryside and coast).
Discounted or donated tours and tickets all over the world. Bike tours, tourist attractions, concert tickets (Beth is a flautist).
Planes. Beth and Katie will be flying from Sydney to London and (eventually) home again via the Americas. Any help with plane tickets would cut a huge chunk out of their costs.
Cash donations. Katie and Beth are fundraising via donation website Go Fund Me, gofundme.com/bethsadventure.
Word of mouth. Beth wants her trip to inspire other people in challenging circumstances to make the most of every day. "Life is hard, but nothing is impossible," says Katie. Help them inspire others by sharing their story with friends and family.
