Henri Cartier-Bresson's wonderful behind-the-scenes photos shot at the Velodrome d’hiver in Paris grace the cover of the latest issue of Rouleur magazine. By Lynette Eyb.
The cover of the latest Rouleur issue features this Cartier-Bresson gem.
Fans of both cycling and photography are in for a real treat if they can get their hands on the latest issue of the excellent Rouleur magazine.
Issue 34 features a selection of photos shot in 1957 by the legendary photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson. The historic behind-the-scenes photos were taken at the now-defunct Velodrome d’hiver in Paris (there is an interesting video here in French).
The photos are accompanied by words by Jack Thurston, host of The Bike Show on Resonance FM in London.
The Cartier-Bresson photos follow an equally impressive set of images by Robert Capa, shot during the 1939 Tour de France for Match Magazine and published in issue 31 of Rouleur (good luck getting your hands on that one - it's currently out of stock).
Check out the Rouleur website for more about the mag. You can subscribe to Rouleur here (it's a great gift idea for the cyclist in your life, too!)
