** Update May 2019 ** Kate has now put her feet up for retirement. See this page for other places to stay on this route.
Here's the lowdown on a lovely little B&B on the Canal de Garonne cycling towpath between Bordeaux and Toulouse.
See our itinerary Canal de Garonne for self-guided riders
I got an email recently from Kate, who runs Le Peupliers, a friendly little B&B on the Canal de Garonne (as in she's just 150 metres from the towpath).
She doesn't have a website, so she got in touch with me to help her spread the word.
She gets lots of cyclists through – thanks in no small part to the B&B sign she's cleverly displayed on the towpath bridge nearby – but she'd like to welcome more of us.
She accepts groups of foru riders or more.
You can reach her on +33 (0)6 05 67 98 15 or +33 (0)5 53 95 79 38 (France); +44 (0)7466 703 785 (UK) or email her directly at kateguijarro@gmail.com.
She's across the canal bridge from the village of St-Jean-de-Thurac, 9km from Agen on the Toulouse side. There are 5 rooms with en suites and garden views. There's an above ground pool, free wifi and Kate can also cook evening meals on request if you're arriving late and hungry (make sure you let her know in advance).
To help your route planning, Kate's B&B is 9km east of Agen and 105km from Toulouse. On the western side of Agen, it's around 50km to this bike base at Buzet-sur-Baïse and 93km from La Reole (you could stay here for that stretch of the canal).
Here are some more pics of the house.
So if you're heading along the Canal de Garonne bwteen Bordeaux and Toulouse, then look Kate up: +33 (0)6 05 67 98 15 or +33 (0)5 53 95 79 38 (France); +44 (0)7466 703 785 (UK) or email via kateguijarro@gmail.com.
