The Voie Verte de l'Armagnac is a peaceful 20km cycle path through the countryside between Condom and Lagraulet.
Distance: 20km
Difficulty: Easy – ideal for families or leisure riders.
A lot of work was carried out by the local agencies to convert this old railway line into the safe and easy-to-use cycle path that connects the towns of Condom and Lagraulet in the peaceful Gers department, which will eventually be extended to Eauze.
The route is in the old Midi-Pyrenees region of France but it's closer to Toulouse and the Canal du Midi than to anything remotely resembling a mountain. (In fact also just 40km from the Canal de Garonne at Agen). It's a flat and peaceful oasis.
You can find parking in Condom, Muchan (at the halfway point), or Lagraulet. There are picnic spots along the ride and cathedrals, castles and chateaux to take in too.
Getting there:
By bike: Condom is 40km on local D-roads south-west of the Canal de Garonne at Agen and 50km east of the EuroVelo 3 route at Labastide-d'Armagnac. The Voie Verte de l'Armagnac also links with the lovely Baise River bike route.
Train: Condom is linked to Agen (50m) by local TER train. Agen links to Toulouse, Bordeaux and Paris. See our bike/train page here.
By car/air: Condom is around 100km north of the airport at Tarbes, and 150km from the airports at Bordeaux and Toulouse.
