Circular bike route from Clairac on the Lot River

An easy pootle along the banks of the Lot River from the bridge at Clairac.

Distance: 12.5km
Difficulty: Easy

Officially called 'Circuit cyclo Pont de Roussanes - Clairac' this circular route hugs the Lot River from the bridge at Clairac.

This Lot et Garonne area of SW France has a lot of offer cyclists, including the longer Véloroute de la vallée du Lot from Aiguillon to Cahors, but you don't have to ride the entire river route to enjoy its peaceful charms.

This gentle day ride provides a perfect chance to explore the river. It gains just 55m in elevation over the 12.5km, making it ideal for all abilities. It's a great ride to enjoy at your own pace – take a picnic in your panniers and head out for a pootle. This is the heart of prune country –  don't forget to save space in your panniers for treats from the prune farm and museum at Lafitte-sur-Lot.

For longer rides in the area, see this Rembrandt-themed ride and this circular ride from the banks of the Garonne.
