See here for guided and self-guided biking holidays in France.

If you need help with bike hire, then I offer a 'bespoke' service to get you where you need to go. I will try and hook you up with a bike hire shop that's a good match for your trip.

First, though, check out my bike hire section to make sure there's not a solution on your route already.

Otherwise, I may be able to help with advice about bike hire, one-way rental, shipping and other logistical problems that pop up when you're planning a trip.

Note that in some regions of France, finding good bike hire is easier than in others – some areas have a plethora of mountain bike hire outlets, for example, but no road bike hire – so I'm not promising I can ALWAYS sort you out, but I'll do my best. I may send you a range of options for you to check out, or I may be able to get you a quote and put you in direct touch with a local contact – it really does depend on your enquiry.

Costs also vary, so bear this in mind when budgeting and route-planning.

What you need to do (how to help me to help you)

So I can help you quickly and efficiently, email me at lyn@freewheelingfrance.com with:
Please note that I spend a lot of time helping cyclists with these enquiries.
If you are already getting quotes from bike hire companies or researching other options, please include info on which companies you are already in contact with so we don't double up.

  1. Your dates
  2. Bike type needed (road bike, mountain bike, hybrid, tourer, electric, kids', tandem, etc)
  3. Location: Where you want to pick the bike up from and where you want to return it, do you need it delivered to you/your hotel, etc?
  4. Any special requirements (ie, qualty or brand, etc – if you're after a road bike it can help to send me the specs of what you're riding now if you want something similar; do you need a child seat with the tourer?; do you need panniers, etc).

What else?

Get in touch as far ahead of your trip as possible. Note that bike hire can be extremely hard to find in some parts of France in high summer. It gets busy here – bikes get booked out quickly and people get stuck without any wheels. The earlier you book, the more likely you'll find what you want, on the dates you want, and for the price you want.

Bonne route!
