'Come ride with me' is a perfect introduction to the Languedoc – an often overlooked region in the south of France that's magnificent for cycling, offering the beauty, landscapes and history of Provence but without the crowds. This is a week of spectacular guided riding based on Geoff and Tessa's 20 years of experience riding this 'hidden' region of France to the north of Montpellier. Ride into the Cevennes National Park or out to the stunning Millau viaduct, or explore the deep gorges and valleys of the Tarn. The tour starts by using a local three-star hotel in Ste Enimie as your base. From here, join local guides (male and female available) to see the best of the relatively unknown Gorges du Tarn and Grandes Causses with their unique terrain. Ride six days out of the seven, with the rest day yours to enjoy off-road riding, walking, kayaking, pot-holing or relaxing with a book! Ride through low-lying vineyards and across mountain passes to the Mediterranean on this self-guided tour aimed at fit riders accustomed to long distances on road bikes. Average distances are around 100km a day, with 1,500m of climbing. Follow the Rhone River as you head from Avignon into Languedoc to see the famous Pont du Gard Roman aqueduct before cycling on to the wine regions of Tavel and Chateauneuf-du-Pape, and to the foot of Ventoux. Linked to the Canal de Garonne, the Canal du Midi made the transport of goods between Bordeaux on the Atlantic Ocean and Marseilles on the Mediterranean Sea far quicker and safer - by avoiding the possibility of attack from the pirates and slave traders of North Africa’s Barbary Coast. This cycling tour takes you from Toulouse to the Mediterranean sea along the Canal du Midi. You ride on the hauling path or further to discover here and there an abbey, nice vineyards or a lake. You start your cycling holiday in Toulouse, where you already feel the way of life of the South of France, discover its gastronomy and wonder at its soft colors. You then ride through the Lauragais, a vast fertile plain dotted with nice churches and ride through Castelnaudary, the home town of cassoulet before reaching the cute port of Bram. You head then to Carcassonne and its famous medieval fortress before riding into Minervois, where you will pass many peaceful wine villages along the canal. You stop in one of them before going to your next stop in Béziers. Afterwards, the sea is only a few kilometers away. You reach first Agde and the Thau Lagoon. You ride the last stretch along the sea and arrive in the town of Sète and its port, the destination of your adventure. The price of this tour includes bike hire, accommodation, luggage transfers and all the maps and information you need to get the most out of your trip.

This short break links two of the Canal du Midi strongholds: the starting point of the canal – the pink city of Toulouse – and the medieval fortress of Carcassonne. The route follows the canal towpath as well as low-traffic country backroads, leading you across the Lauragais, a large fertile plain surrounded by hills where the pastel trade prospered in the 15th and 16th centuries and brought wealth to Toulouse. Ride through Castelnaudary, the capital of cassoulet, and past the abbey of Saint-Papoul before arriving in Carcassonne to explore the city in all its medieval glory. This is a self-guided ride, with bike hire, accommodation included, as well as maps, route notes and lots of local biking advice. Daily distances: 24-49km.

This new tour follows the course of the Tarn river from close to its source on Mont Lozere to where it forms a large valley in Aveyron. That route will see you riding through the Cévennes, through the Gorges du Tarn and then into the Tarn valley with lots to see and do en route. You will stay in two- and three-star hotels along the way and finish at Rouquefort to visit the cheese caves (you will have earned a sample or three). Geoff and Tessa are local cycling experts, having lived and cycled in this area for more than 20 years. Their routes are varied and interesting, and they can be tailored to your ability. You'll have six days of riding planned for you, with one rest day for you to take time out for for MTB-ing or e-biking, or to simply relax. This self-guided tour provides a unique perspective on many of the south of France's highlights. It's unusual to combine the Med, the Midi and the Pyrenees into one trip but that's exactly what this one does. The gorges in the Tarn and Lozere departments are some of the deepest and most spectacular in Europe – and they are surprisingly undiscovered and rarely cycled. The area is set to the north of Montpellier at the western edge of the Cévennes National Park. This self-guided tour is based at Mellow Velo Aventures' own our self-catering accommodation, so you'll have a familiar base to return to at the end of each day without having to worry about luggage transfers. Tessa and Geoff have over 20 years of local knowledge to call upon and have planned these varied and interesting routes based on their local favourites – and on your preferred daily mileage. You'll head out for six rides over a period of seven days.
