But it's also a hive of mountain bike activity, with offroad trails crossing from north to south, east to west. Ride along wooded trails and along rivers of the Périgord Noir - the eastern end of the Dordgone that's famous for medieval castles, pretty villages and prehistoric sites. The Dordogne and Vézère river valleys are dotted with steep valleys, caves and cliffs that can be navigated on mountain bikes. Ride forest tracks, easy singletrack, and quiet country lanes. This tour is offered guided or self-guided and covers 25-35km per day, with a maximum 600m altitude gain. The price of this tour includes an English-speaking fully qualified French mountain bike guide, 2- and 3-star hotel accommodation, all breakfasts, picnic lunches and dinners, plus luggage transfers. Self-guided riders also detailed travel documents, highlighted maps and GPS tracks. Electric bikes also available.
