This self-guided cycling holiday explores the heart of Provence – visit the papal palace of Avignon, Van Gogh's St-Rémy-de-Provence and the Roman city of Arles. Your luggage is transferred ahead as you cycle through vines, orchards, and the rice paddies of the Camargue. A journey southward – with the warm prevailing winds to your back – to reveal quintessential Provençal landscapes of olive groves and sunflower fields framed by the dramatic hills of the Alpilles, ending in the Rhône’s luxuriant delta, a unique area known as the Camargue where flamingos and egrets fly lazily overhead while gardians (cowboys) ride the region’s famed white horses to herd their black bulls across the patchwork of grassy waterways, reed beds, rice paddies and lagoons. The price of this tour includes accommodation, meals, bike hire, luggage transfers, plus cycling notes and maps. Electric bikes are also available for an additional charge.
