This is a wonderfully restored 500-year-old mas, set right below Lussan, one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France (Most Beautiful Villages in France). It's set in 8 acres of tranquil gardens. "We have three self-catering 5-star gites here," writes the owner, Kate. "We are in the Gard between Uzes and the Cevennes/Ardeche, so we are fantastically located for gentle family cycling as well as for more demanding rides. At the end of the day, we make a good retreat as we have a bit of luxury, with the pool and gardens. There are also restaurants within walking distance." Cycle right from the door on one of the many local routes – one of Kate's favourites is to Les Concluses de Lussan (canyons) – or take your bike up to the Cevennes to really stretch your legs. Close to Pont du Gard, Nimes and Avignon, as well as to the lovely town of Uzes. The gites sleep 2-6, making this a great option for self-catering solo riders and couples, as well as groups. Each gite has wifi (and pre-loaded iPads), plus there's a small shop selling essentials. Baguettes and croissants baked daily to order.
