Experience Provence and the Camargue – a region of light, colours and scents. There's a good reason so many well-known painters were drawn to live and work here, among them Picasso, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Matisse, Cézanne and Chagall. The Mediterranean climate is pleasant, the sun shines more than 3000 hours a year and life is lived outside, even during the short, crisp and windy winter. Play pétanque, drink Pastis and enjoy the local culture. This is, afterall, the place that inspired the writing of Peter Mayle. Provence not only has an easy way of life, but it’s also one of the richest cultural regions in Europe – and remarkably easy to enjoy by bike. Ancient monuments stand as a reminder of the long history here, with antiquities rich from the Greek and Roman periods, through to the Middle Ages and into the modern era. Then, of course, ther is the wine and food to enjoy. Discover the delicious Provencal dishes and their Mediterranean flavours on this 7-night self-guided ride. The price includes carefully chosen hotels (some with swimming pools), all breakfasts, a welcome briefing, luggage transport, carefully planned roads and paths with detailed maps, brochures and route notes, France Bike signs along the route, GPS tracks on request, and a telephone hotline.
