Cinquante Cinq is a great cycling base in Bussière-Galant in the beautiful Haute-Vienne area of rural France, just 40km south-west of Limoges. Ride from the door to explore the countryside of one of France's prettiest but least explored cycling areas. Ride to the local swimming lake, try the velo rail, tree-top trekking or mini golf. The house sits not far from the Lawrence of Arabia bike route. Also see this page for more on cycling in the Haute-Vienne. The historic town of Chalus is also worth exploring. The owners, Elizabeth and Grant have thought of everything cyclists need. The house sleeps up to 14 people with large communal areas inside and outside, and a secure garage for cycle storage. There's a hose for washing down bikes, a full laundry with a washing machine and dryer for mucky clothes, and plenty of space to dry wet gear. Cook in the summer kitchen on the terrace overlooking the private pool and gardens – or stroll into the village for the bakery, shop, and bar/restaurant. The local train station has links to Limoges and Perigueux (and on to Paris), plus there's an airport at Limoges.
