Level of difficulty:
This short self-guided bike tour of the Burgundy takes you almost entirely on bike paths only. It's perfect for new cyclists, as well as families – it's also perfect for wine-lovers. You visit Chalon, Cluny and its Abbey, Tournus and Macon along an old railway track converted into a beautiful bike lane. You even take the longest bike-only tunnel in Europe. In Macon you join the banks of the Saône to reach Chalon. This bike tour is the perfect tour to discover the Burgundy wines from the Côte Chalonnaise, the religious heritage of Cluny and Taizé, the Lamartine area or the castle of Cormatin. This is a hand-picked route devised by Bérangère and Eugénie, who began to cycle cross their home country at the age of 22, and now run Le Vélo Voyageur to share their rides with cyclists from around the world.
