This 4-night break is the perfect way to explore Provence, hopping from lavender fields through olive groves and on to hilltop villages. The trip starts in Avignon – the majestic 'city of Popes' with its history of art and architecture. You'll then ride through the vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape (leave pannier space for a sample of Provence's finest wine!), and visit Orange and its historic theatre. From here it's on to one of France's most beautiful villages, Séguret, before reaching Mazan and the foot of Mont Ventoux (it's up to you if your legs can carry you to the top). The last stage takes you to Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, a former fishing village that's now renowned today for its antique shops. This is a self-guided ride, with bike hire and accommodation included. Daily distance 25-42km a day.
