Arcachon Bay is an easy and relaxing cycling destination. Cycling is mostly on car-free paths, and there are lots of places to stop for refreshments (or a swim). From the oyster-farming village of Gujan Mestras to wide sandy beaches, the great dune of Pyla and fragrant pine forests, Arcachon is a treat for the senses (and the tastebuds). Take a boat ride to Cap Ferret to enjoy views back across the bay, wander the pedestrian preccinct at Arcachon or climb sand dunes for panoramic views. In six stages, you can cycle through three middle mountain areas of Auvergne: the Massif du Sancy, the Livradois-Forez and the Cantal. This tour is offered by a family of cyclists for riders wanting to get away from it all to explore quieter corners of France. Based outside the historic town of Saint Antonin-Noble-Val in the Aveyron Gorge, this fixed base trip has an emphasis on easy to moderate cycling but can be adapted to suit your needs. Take in sun-drenched fields of corn, the jaw-dropping medieval village of Najac and the golden vineyards of Gaillac (including stops to try the local wines). All the routes are on quiet roads and combine postcard views and places of interest en route, with alfresco lunch stops. Bring your own bike, or use one of the hybrid tourers or e-bikes included in the price. Road bike hire is also available locally. Relax at the end of the each day in a newly renovated gite or cabin with delicious food and wine – all supplied in abundance using local seasonal produce and included in the price. Cycle on the quiet roads of the Lévezou plateau south of Rodez through rolling countryside, past lakes and into the Tarn valley.
