Maison Vayon is an old stone house a short pedal from its neighbouring village. There are 3 double bedrooms, two bathrooms, a new kitchen , dining room and a comfortable sitting room that opens out onto a large terrace and garden, perfect for a post-ride BBQ. Aups is a beautiful medieval village with numerous restaurants and narrow streets. There's also a lively market on Saturdays and Wednesdays. The cycling to be had around Aups is excellent up into the hills to Lac Saint Criox and the stunning Gorges du Verdun, with lots of options for all abilities. There's also a really useful PDF from the Provence tourist board (large file - may take a few moments to download) with routes shown in easy-to-follow formats. English and French spoken.

Madeleine is keen to welcome you to her wonderful B&B only 150 METRES (!!!) from the Avenue Verte London to Paris bike route and just 25km from Dieppe – it's an ideal first/last stop on your way from/to the ferry port. Located on the 45km section of the route linking Dieppe to Forges Les Eaux, this really is a super base at the gateway to some of northern France's best biking; the Somme, Monet’s Gardens, Honfleur and Rouen can all be reached from here using a network of bike paths and backroads. Madeleine offers hearty three-course gourmet dinners (by arrangement), or there's a lovely French restaurant in the village. She has owned the B&B for more than 10 years, so she's an expert when it comes to offering local information and advice. In addition to the B&B, there's a lovingly converted self-catering barn for four people (double bed + sofa) available for week-long stays during July and August, and shorter stays the rest of the year. The Willow Tree is a cyclist-run two bedroom apartment for 4 people just east of Avignon. It’s an ideal base, being a short ride from the leisure cycling routes of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and also within reach of Ventoux. The apartment sits within the grounds of a larger villa, called The Apple Orchard, but it is fully self-contained. It opens on to a terrace and there is also a heated swimming pool. The owners, Audrey and Peter, live on site and both work for local cycling companies. They can arrange bike hire, biking fittings and maintenance for you, plus advise on the best local routes. La Residence du Chateau de Jouarres is set in the former grounds of an 18th century chateau adjacent to the Canal du Midi and vineyards in the Minervois/Corbieres wine region of Languedoc, about 20 miles east of Carcassonne. They offer self-catering apartments for 2 to 8 people, with terraces and balconies overlooking the pool area, woodland or gardens. Bédoin, at the foot of Mt Ventoux, is at the heart of one of the most popular and varied cycling regions in France. There is, of course, Ventoux – the Giant of Provence – looming large over it all, but there are also lots of other routes for all abilities from your doorstep. Surrounded by fields and truffle woods, these two stylish houses stand side-by-side, with views south towards the Luberon. The Flop House is a lovely 19th century farmhouse, while La Maison de Lune, reached via its own lane, was converted from the old outbuildings. La Maison de Peintres is the perfect place to stay if you're cycling Mont Ventoux as you're already on the way. Only 2km up from the bustle of the cycling hub of Bedoin, you'll find yourself in a peaceful and truly Provençal hamlet at the foot of the mountain. It's also only five minutes' walk from the beautiful Grand Randonné path 91 that circles the Ventoux and a short drive to get fresh croissants in the morning. There are three double bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and a delightful terrace with a view of the surrounding cherry orchards and vineyards. Jauberria is a 100-year-old restored Basque farm cottage – with bags of character – in a quiet location in the foothills of the Pyrenees (but within striking distance of Biarritz 60km away). This is the far-western edge of the Pyrenees and an area often ignored by cycilsts in the clamour to get to the more famous cols to the east. With owners Dave and Kris living next door, there's help and support nearby. Dave is a keen cyclist and can share his favourite local routes and advise which climbs are best for your ability (there are loads of route options). He also has a full range of maps, including MTB trails, to share. Dave says the roads around here are of a generally high standard for road cycling and that most of the local cols have their altitudes and gradients marked for cyclists (the Col d’Iraty, 1,350m is nearby). The cottage itself comfortably sleeps 6 people and is perfect for a family or a group of friends sharing, with a large family bathroom upstairs and shower/toilet on the ground floor. The cottage has its own garden and terrace with lovely, far-reaching views.
