Distance: Currently 165km.
Difficulty: Easy to moderate. Some small hills of gradient 1-2%. There are some gentle climbs of (mostly) around 100m in gain.
The Véloroute de la Vallée de la Baise is one of France's 'off-the-beaten' track bike routes. It follows the Baïse river from Barbaste, just west of the Canal de Garonne, through beautiful Nerac and Condom to Valence-sur-Baïse and on to the source of the river Baïse in Lannemezan in the foothills of the Pyrénées.
There are some gentle hills on this route but – when you look at the numbers above – it's not as bad as the graph makes out. Mostly they are small hills of gradient 1-2% (sometimes a bit more). So there is some gentle climbing here of (mostly) less than 100m in gain.
Mostly this is a shared road route – some 154km of the 165km follow roads and the balance on dedicated cycle paths.
It links with the Bordeaux-Toulouse-Sete route on the Canal de Garonne at Agen and with the Voie Verte de l'Armagnac in Condom.
