La Voie Verte en Pyrénées Cathares is a greenway route on a converted railway line that runs between Mirepoix and Lavelanet, providing cyclists, walkers, horse riders and rollerbladers with a wonderful space to enjoy a historical part of France. It forms part of the V81 route that runs all the way to the Pyrenees proper. Start in the Medieval town of Mirepoix and wind your way down through delightful villages, through tunnels and over bridges. Don't forget to pack a picnic in your panniers for a lunch stop at Lac de Montbel. You can download a brochure of the route here.
