Mas de la Boissiere – just outside the village of Cucuron in the Luberon National Park – is a fabulous base from which to explore the Vaucluse region of Provence. Cycle up into the Luberon mountains directly from the house (great road riding as well as mountain biking), or explore the backroads and country lanes on shorter trips. Cycle through colourful villages and lavender fields, stopping at cafes and wineries en route. For serious riders there's Mont Ventoux, just over an hour-and-a-half away by car (relax your muscles when you get back in the heated pool). Georgie is keen to welcome more cyclists to her little oasis, as well as their non-cycling friends, with plenty for your partner, friends and family to do while you're off on the bike (boules, swimming – the pool even has a child-friendly shallow end – plus tables tennis and 14 acres of parkland). Free wifi. French, English and German spoken.

Bédoin, at the foot of Mt Ventoux, is at the heart of one of the most popular and varied cycling regions in France. There is, of course, Ventoux – the Giant of Provence – looming large over it all, but there are also lots of other routes for all abilities from your doorstep. Surrounded by fields and truffle woods, these two stylish houses stand side-by-side, with views south towards the Luberon. The Flop House is a lovely 19th century farmhouse, while La Maison de Lune, reached via its own lane, was converted from the old outbuildings. Lavender, rosemary, wisteria, fruit trees and lawns, each house has its own garden and child-safe swimming pool. If you are a cyclist who likes laid-back luxury, you’ll find it here. Bédoin and its restaurants, cafes and market are only minutes away by bike. Secure cycle shed. Free Wifi.
