Do you know any good bikes shops in France?
  • LynLyn June 2011
During a recent discussion on Twitter, it was suggested by Matthew at Suffolk Cycle Surgery that France is a bit short of good quality bike shops, with Decathlon sometimes the only option.

We have bike hire listings on the site, and many of these places also do sales and service, but I wanted to start this thread so people can list/suggest/recommend good general bike shops they come across in their travels, or those close to where they live.

Please try and include as much info as possible (bike shop name, address and a website, if available), plus any other info you think will be useful for other cyclists.

    Cheers,
    Lyn @ FF

  • During my 7 cycling trips in France to research the Bicycle Your France guidebooks (http://stores.lulu.com/bicycle-france) I have good experience with:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Bourgogne Randonnées (Beaune, Burgundy) www.detours-in-france.com, contact Florent Laroux

http://decouvert-loisirs/ decouvert-loisirs.php (Souillac for Dordogne & Lot) contact Christine

Luberon Biking (Velleron, Provence) www.luberon-biking.fr, contact Hubert Flechais

Cycles Bachelas (Forcalquier & Manosque, Provence) www.bachelas-cycles.com, contact Guy Bachelas in Forcalquier or Benjamin Bachelas in Manosque

The first 3 rent bikes and have good repair people. The last 2 sell & repair bikes. All 5 speak English.

If you have questions regarding these areas ask me at wjmoore@tampabay.rr.com

    Thanks for those names, Walter.

Rebecca at easycycling.com has Tweeted to throw her support behind Decathlon.
"DECATHLON uk just isn't the same as DECATHLON france - the one in Annecy and Chambery is/are brilliant," she Tweets.
"they have really good quality road bikes too...and hybrids....and cycling kit...and full selection of energy stuff..."
