I received the following email from Becky, one of our site users – I'm posting it here in case it can help anyone else.

(I've added the shop to our Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur bike hire listings. If anyone else knows of good cycle hire shops in France, drop me a line and I'll add them to our bike hire listings. That area of the site is new, and it's a mammoth undertaking finding every hire shop in the country – but I'm trying!)

We went to France a couple of weeks ago. Looked on your site before we left but couldn't find a bike shop nearby. But when we arrived, a new shop had opened – please can you give it a plug?

It's in Vidauban and near such great cycling country that it'd be a shame for others not to find it. It's been open a year, the couple that run it moved down from Paris and are both very helpful. He's a competitive rider and good mechanic.

They sell new and used bikes as well as accessories and rent good road bikes as well as hybrids and mountain bikes.

We usually take our own bikes to France but when we don't it's nice to be able to find a hire shop. And so many bike hire places are on the coast there, whereas most of the good riding is inland.

We usually do routes from this excellent leaflet. It has good directions as well as distances and profiles, plus most of the routes are marked by road signs.

Just noticed a piece on your site about riding from the Channel to the Med, so will read that as we're keen to do that next ...
