Thank you very very much for this article and link. I cycled around those parts when a past through France more than 10 years ago and it bought back some lovely memories. My dad fought in the Somme and so its always nice to see others paying tribute all these years after.

I am enjoying your site - keep it up!

    Hello

A book just landed on my desk today that I thought might interest you, Peter, as well as anyone else interested in cycling the Somme.

It's called Walking the Somme, but don't be put off by the title. The author, Paul Reed, has written it with walkers as well as cyclists in mind, and it covers 16 individual routes around the Somme, taking in all the major memorials. It's an updated version of an earlier book, and it's published by Pen & Sword, a company that specialises in publishing books related to war history.

Paul Reed has also written Walking the Salient and Walking Arras, both older titles (I'm not sure yet if they too are scheduled for re-release in updated versions).

    Cheers
    Lyn.
