New cyclosportive billed as one of the toughest in France
Figure of Hate
1 day - Sunday, August 27
Level of difficulty:
€65 for the 95km course; €75 for the 195km course
Sunday, August 27 is the date for one of France's toughest cyclosportives. It's the brainchild of club cyclists in the Aude department – cyclists who ride the roads of the Eastern Pyrenees week-in, week-out. They've conceived one of the toughest one-day rides in the country, taking in two Tour de France cols, the hors categorie Port de Pailheres and the category one Col de Jau. There are two circuits – one a staggering 195km with 5000m of climbing, and a shorter 95km circuit with 2500km of climbing. Neither is for the novice. Both are for riders who fancy a challenging day on the bike among some of the best mountain scenery for cycling in France.
